For participants in the MOS study
Those who participate in the MOS study must undergo a number of examinations and make a diet registration. Information regarding this can be found in the Diet Registration Guide and the Portion Guide. Links to these can be found in the left menu. The study includes the following examinations of the participants
- Physical examination with measurement of height, weight, waist, hip and blood pressure (in arm and central over 24 hours).
- Blood sampling including DNA samples for genetic analysis of certain defined widespread diseases and for analysis of gene-environment interaction.
- Technical examinations (external, non-invasive): ultrasound of carotid vessels, measurement of blood pressure in arms and ankles, measurement of blood flow in fingers and feet, 24-hour blood pressure measurement, arterial stiffness measurement, measurement of breathing capacity (spirometry).
- Investigation of memory and cognitive tests: MOCA, AQT, Symbol Digit Modalities Test).
- Questionnaire with questions about lifestyle, education, stress and more.
- Diet registration via computer for four days according to a dietary survey template from the Swedish Food Agency. This can be done at a computer from home.
- Urine sample and stool sample (to estimate the composition of the bacterial flora in the intestine).
